The World Islands are a group of artificial islands off the shore of Dubai, UAE, that are shaped like the continents of the earth. It will be separated into four classifications: estate homes, private homes, community islands, and dream resorts, with a total of 300 small private artificial islands.
The World Islands will be 4 kilometers off the coast of Jumeirah, adjoining the Palm Jumeirah, between Port Rashid and Burj Al Arab, at 55 degrees 10 East and 25 degrees 13 North. Every island will be traded to a small group of private investors. The island of Great Britain in the World concept was just purchased by Richard Branson. The World is predicted to be finished in 2008.
